Because he's not "just Ken", not really...
Scroll down for a roundup of the hilarious parenting content from the week, guaranteed to make you smile, if not laugh out loud. And the odd helpful tip.
Happy Saturday Dads!
Congratulations, another Mother’s Day gone along with another year pretending that we know where the playground is, how to put a wash load on and generally how to entertain the kids without resorting to Netflix.
Don’t worry, we’ll still bring you fresh reminders each week just in case, but for now there’s a whopping 380 days till the next one, so you can relax.
Coming up this week…
In a bid to keep things simple, you may notice a change to how we’re structuring the newsletter this week. Please feel free to share your feedback at fred@fordads.co.uk.

As always, if you enjoyed this week’s edition and think you might know someone else who would, please do share. We know how tough being a parent can be, and sometimes you just need a moment to laugh at some of the craziness.
Thanks for reading, and enjoy that beer when it finally comes.

Silence is golden.
Unless you have toddlers. Then silence is suspicious.

🥇 Learning tip
Here’s a very simple and engaging (if a little messy) approach to teaching your kids about the primary colours.

🎾 Activity of the week
Sometimes it feels like there is nothing more daunting than a full day of solo parenting.
Picture yourself between the hours of 6am and 6pm nursing a Saturday morning hangover whilst your partner is out with the gals.
It’ll probably look something like this.
Well, we’re here for you. If only to provide one or two simple activities that’ll keep the little critters busy enough for you to grab another Berocca from the kitchen.
We found this activity earlier in the week and rate how it’s largely mess-free.

🍽️ Recipe of the week
Don’t say we never spoil you. Here are four freezable finger foods (say that 3 times as fast as you can!) to batch cook for your toddler this week.
Recipe: FOUR FREEZABLE FINGER FOODS

💻 Hack of the week
To be honest, using “fear” as a parenting tool doesn’t sound like the right thing to be doing, but perhaps we’re missing a trick.
This dad has gone to extreme lengths to nudge his kids into taking a bath every now and then, but I guess the proof will be in the pudding.
⭐ How the stars do it
It turns out Ryan Gosling may have forgotten that in real life he’s not “just Ken”, but a dad with kids running riot at home.
Upcoming dates that it might be worth having up your sleeve:
Neurodiversity Celebration Week | 18-24th March; Follow this link to find loads of free events being organised as part of this year’s Neurodiversity Week.
Spring Begins | 20th March; find a couple of super durable plants and get your kids involved in keeping them alive.
World Water Day | 22nd March; Gather the kids and pour about 5ml of hot water into a jar. Cover the jar with a plate and top with some ice whilst you ask your kids what they think will happen. Pretty soon, thanks to some scientific wizardry, rain droplets from the top of the plate. You could use it to water that houseplant that may be in need of some love.
That’s it for this week folks.
Thanks again for reading, as always we leave you with one HILARIOUS joke to share with the family.
Finally, my winter fat has gone.
Now I just have spring rolls.
